Women’s Welfare Association (WWA) is a Voluntary Non-Governmental Organization constituted and registered in 1978 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and mostly working with rural people in Wayanad district of Kerala State in India. WWA promotes integrated people centered rural development for improving the quality of life and living of village communities irrespective of religion, caste, creed, color and political leaning. Women from different walks of life are members of its general body and Director Board. Administrative Office of the WWA is located at Thomattuchal village, 28 kilometers away from the district head quarters – Kalpetta in Wayanad district of Kerala state in India. Women’s Welfare Association is a wing of society of Kristudasis for its social involvement. The religious congregation was established in the year 1977 by Emeritus Arch Bishop Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Manathavady. Women’s Welfare Association kept its secular character and it has grown with the support of Sisters of the Society of Kristudasis.
Women’s Welfare Association is working with the target population women, children, small and marginal farmers, agriculture labours in Kerala especially in Wayanad district. It was an organisation working in very deserving areas initially started rural development activities in four villages and over the period extended its service in whole Wayanad and nearby district of Wayanad. The organisation has 43 years of experience in community development interventions and well functional in community-based organization. We undertake national and international project which purely design to improve the quality of life of layman in the society. We have well experience in undertaking state and central government project for farm sector development, education development, livelihood, promotes women entrepreneurship, rural sanitation and safe drinking water and climate change adaptation etc. Over the 43 years, we have undertaken various livelihood and skill development programs and the major programs are such as Food processing on bakery products, Food processing on curry powders and grains, Plant nursery production and management, Handicrafts making, Tailoring, Goat and cow rearing, Umbrella making, Bee Keeping, Pollution free poultry farming and Nutritional Garden Making. We are always focusing the self-learning and self-action of the peoples for sustainability and future interpretation.
